Canada Kitchens Limited Cabinet Warranty

Canada Kitchens hereby warrants that all cabinets sold by Canada Kitchens are free from defects in material and workmanship for a period of one (1) year from the date of purchase. This warranty is expressly limited to repair or replacement of the defective part at the discretion of Canada Kitchens, and does not include labour for removal or replacement. This warranty does not cover freight charges. Cabinets sold or shipped outside Canada are not covered by this warranty. This warranty is only applicable to products sold to the original purchasing customer and is non-transferrable. Any modification to the hardware structure or finish of the original consumer purchaser’s cabinetry by anyone other than those specifically authorized by Canada Kitchens to do so shall void this limited liability warranty. The product must be used exclusively for its intended purpose in order to be covered by this limited liability warranty. This limited liability warranty shall become void if the cabinets or any components or parts thereof are in any way modified, improperly installed or damaged prior to or during installation, or installed or used in other than normal residential applications.

Some replacement parts are subject to availability and may differ from original parts received. Return of defective product may require a replacement request to be issued. Repair parts or replacement parts are at the expense of Canada Kitchens but the customer shall bear all other expenses. These expenses may include, but are not limited to, cost of removal and reinstallation of product, labour expenses, etc.

Some of our cabinets feature a glazed finish. This is a hand glazing application process and there will be variation in colour and appearance from door and cabinet to cabinet.

This warranty does not extend to environmental factors, including but not limited to artificial/natural light, moisture, cleaners, smoke, etc., as these things may cause the darkening or mellowing of the cabinetry over time. This warranty does not extend to defects caused by improper handling, storage, installation, assembly or disassembly, intentional damage, product modifications, exposure to the elements including humidity which may result in warping or splitting, accidental misuse, abuse or negligence.

Natural wood may vary in texture, colour and wood grain, and exhibit subtle change as they age. For example: wood joints may eventually have visible cracking around the joint area, and cabinet colours may darken or lighten over time. Sunlight, smoke, moisture, household cleaners and other environmental conditions may cause materials to vary from their original colour and/or to warp, split or crack. These variations are considered to be the nature of the material in relation to its environmental exposure and not covered under this warranty.

This warranty is only valid within Canada. To exercise this warranty, please submit your claim through your online account or contact Canada Kitchens at info@canadakitchens.ca. Report all your defects claimed in writing and include proof of purchase documentation.

Hardware Lifetime Warranty

This warranty applies to drawer glides and door hinges only. If glides or hinges stop working properly, Canada Kitchens will exchange the damaged glides and hinges without charge. This warranty is expressly limited to repair or replacement of the defective part at the discretion of Canada Kitchens and does not include labour for removal, replacement or shipping. This warranty does not cover any freight charges.

Maintenance

Use a soft, clean cloth dampened with warm water—if the water alone does not clean cabinets completely, mix mild dishwasher soap with the water, dry immediately with a clean soft cloth. Wood oil may also be used to keep cabinets looking pristine. To reduce warping, shifting or splitting of the wood, avoid drastic changes in temperature and keep relative humidity between 40% and 50%.

How Moisture Affects Wood

Wood is a hygroscopic material, meaning that its moisture content will fluctuate based on the relative humidity in the surrounding air. Wood is continually absorbing or releasing moisture until it reaches an equilibrium with its surroundings. Solid wood expands as it gains moisture and tends to shrink as it loses moisture and does not shrink or swell equally in all directions.

Humid Climates

In humid climates the wood will absorb the additional moisture content available in the air, causing it to expand or swell. If the cabinet doors are exposed to a significant amount of moisture for an extended period of time, this may result in permanent damage to cabinetry and joints.

Dry Climate

In dry climates the wood will release moisture and shrink/contract. Cabinetry will shrink/contract from the dry heat supplied from home heating units, while this happens the wood is losing moisture and gaps may appear at the joints between the cabinetry pieces. Since wood moves and paint does not, the painted doors will also reveal hairline seams at the joints of the cabinetry pieces and disappear once recommended humidity levels have been restored.

What can I do to help solve moisture related problems?

Many of the internal environment issues that affect human comfort also contribute to a wood healthy environment. Proper climate control within the home can significantly reduce occurrence of moisture-related problems. A simple way to reduce air moisture is by covering pots while cooking, when possible. Use a dehumidifier and/or air conditioner to control excess humidity in the summer and humidifier to keep the air from becoming too dry in the winter.

Secondary homes, even when not occupied should be maintained with proper climate control.

We recommend maintaining the Relative Humidity (RH) in your home within the range of 40% to 50% and keeping the temperature within your home between 60°F – 90°F. Our warranty does not cover damage caused by improper handling, storage, installation, assembly or disassembly, intentional damage, product modifications, exposure to the elements including humidity and drastic temperature changes which may result in warping or splitting, accidental misuse, abuse or negligence.
